Genuine feel for them, but you have no idea how to express it. You feel that saying something is&nbsp;presumptuous&nbsp;or intrusive. You try to be supportive or at least give the appearance of such. How do you know how much or to little to give?<br /><br />After:<br /><br />You like posts, you say names, you remember things (and say them out loud to the closest to them), you can't stop thinking about every moment you had with them. You know how it feels. So you give and give until you have no more to give those that have lost. People you meet through the loss of a love one (which is a total thing) you try to find out more and more about the loss. It's a compulsion. You can't help yourself. You want to know the story, not exactly for yourself but for those left behind. It's a tie that binds us.<br /><br />Cancer, accident, disease, natural, drugs, end of life. We are all connected. If you are not it's ok, but the one thing to remember is we are not contagious, beyond help, or don't want to hear anything, everything, something that you have about our loved one. Enough is said about what we don't want to hear, but understand that we want to hear what you feel, remember or know about our loved one. These are all we have left and we hang on to every word, crazy story or thought. Not one single day goes by that I don't think about my brother. I constantly battle with the fact that this is real. I will never hear his voice, feel his hug or see who he will become, but I still have the chance to know him through you. He was many different things to many different people. That is what made him so special. Don't ever hesitate to share this with us. We may cry, but through the tears we smile.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-802767557373693572.post-60070899544818378172015-06-07T09:13:00.002-07:002015-06-07T14:51:57.256-07:00Our New House<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">We recently purchased a house in Southern CA and in typical husband and Shannon fashion, we tore it up and are remodeling basically the entire house. Most of my family lives in other states and has been requesting photos of the progress as we go. To be kind and not fill up your fb stream I decided to put everything together here.<br /><br />We are planning on updating/changing the kitchen, laundry room, master bathroom, master closet and replacing all floors and closets. We will also do small changes in all other bathrooms and maybe a little something in the office.<br /><br />I can't wait to move in...sometime in the next few months. Currently the majority of the focus is on the downstairs, but we have started to move upstairs with demo and will finish this week.<br /><br /><b>Kitchen</b><br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BT8FYHMIbaA/VXNiAHaW4gI/AAAAAAAACOM/TGKV_dVTK7s/s1600/Kitchen%2B1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="424" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BT8FYHMIbaA/VXNiAHaW4gI/AAAAAAAACOM/TGKV_dVTK7s/s640/Kitchen%2B1.JPG" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Original layout with hall on other side of the fridge. It's a funny thing. Part of you wants to walk around with a sign saying, "My brother is no longer here and I am fucking devastated." And the other part says, if I don't say anything I won't have to explain why a young, loving, good, beautiful boy is no longer here.<br /><br />See that's the trick. Why isn't he here? Stupid decisions? A last minute idea gone wrong? How do you explain he is gone without having him be defined by the last bad decision he made? He can't be defined by that. He was more then that. He was someone that always did well by his three sisters, that may not have returned the favor as often as they should. He was a good son that rarely complained about being the only boy, that had a lot on his shoulders, most of which we never even knew. He was a good friend, shown by the astounding turn out by them at his memorial held in a Catholic Church that probably had most of them cringing at the door. He was a loving boyfriend that had a great girlfriend who he had his last great adventure with. He tried to do well by all of us. How do you explain that to those who never knew him?<br /><br />You don't.<br /><br />You just keep that in your heart. In the place that counts.<br /><br />He wasn't perfect. He made stupid decisions. He put himself in situations that he shouldn't have. But didn't you at one point? Don't you still today? The difference is that you and I made/make it past those mistakes intact. He didn't. Would you want your life to be defined by the last worse decision you made? No and neither should he.<br /><br />He was a sweet, loving and caring human being and I hope that I can show at least a 10th of the amazing forgiveness and understanding that he had for anyone and everyone he came across. We should all strive to have that piece within ourselves. &nbsp;</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-802767557373693572.post-43957940798856274662015-02-13T00:30:00.000-08:002015-02-13T00:30:04.627-08:00Beauty in the Kitchen<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-layout-grid-align: none; mso-pagination: none; text-autospace: none;"><span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">I have been on a DIY beauty bender. I have missed doing posts, but I let the blog become a chore and not something I looked forward to doing. I still would often think about posting whenever I come across something cool or a new recipe, but haven't put anything actually together.<br /><br />After some encouraging from friends and coach I decided it's time to give it another shot, without all the expectations I put on myself. Plus I really wanted to put my newest recipe down on the web somewhere so I could find it easily. Yup. It's all about organization on the web! So let's get right to it.<br /><br />I have been trying this new diet/way of eating over the last 4 weeks and I love it. Like, big time OMG love it. It all started when I was discussing my unhappiness of my recent weight gain over the holidays (who am I kidding, the last two years) with my business coach and she suggested I read <a href="http://fourhourbody.com/">4 Hour Body</a> by Tim Ferris. I figured what the hell, might as well check it out, because obviously nothing else has stuck. I started reading the book and it just made sense to me in a way no other diet or regime had ever clicked with me before. I also saw another huge benefit in the way I can easily fit this in with cooking dinner for my husband and myself. This portion of any diet can easily throw me completely off any diet within days. Who wants to prepare multiple meals for dinner, certainly not me.<br /><br />The other major, and I do mean MAJOR, perk is there is a cheat day built in. A free for all if you will. You can read up on all sorts of opinions on it, but it comes down to eat whatever you want for one day a week. After a few cheat days, you learn to pull back and not go whole hog all at once, but it sure is fun trying. Oh and did I forget to add that you can have two glasses of red wine PER DAY on this? Well, yes you can and yes I have. Perhaps not everyday, but on days when I really want something not on the protein, vegetable &amp; legume regime this is a very nice substitute.<br /><br />While I haven't lost a crazy amount of weight that Tim advertises on this, I have found it to be so easy to keep up, &nbsp;losing inches and at least 2 pounds per week and definitely have lots of energy. So I will keep up with it until it doesn't work.<br /><br />One thing that is hard on me is breakfast within 30-60 minutes of waking up. I don't mind the eating as much as the preparation (remember it's a protein, veggie and legume every meal) first thing in the morning. When I was going through some of my old recipes, trying to find ways to turn them in to a Slow Carb (4 Hour Body) meal, I came across brunch egg cups. Light bulb went off. Instead of making eggs, spinach and beans every morning for breakfast, I can turn this into an egg cup that can be pre-made and last for up to a week in the fridge. YES! I then looked around and tried to find if anyone else did a slow carb version and I came across a few, but they just weren't right for me, so I took them all and made my own. If you aren't a slow carb eater, add some cheese and milk instead of water and these are perfect for a quick and easy breakfast during the week.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WpQaZmmBNdg/VNq2mJspqQI/AAAAAAAACHI/diL1bRoWDNQ/s1600/IMG_2223.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WpQaZmmBNdg/VNq2mJspqQI/AAAAAAAACHI/diL1bRoWDNQ/s1600/IMG_2223.jpg" height="244" width="320" /></a></div><br /><br /><b>Slow Carb Egg Muffins</b><br /><b><br /></b>Makes 12 muffins (I usually eat two in the morning)<br /><br />6 whole organic, cage free, free range, whatever type you like eggs<br />1 cup of egg whites (you can use 12 eggs instead, but I like to keep it a bit lighter in the morning)<br />Splash of water (for fluffier eggs)<br />Salt &amp; Pepper to taste<br /><br />Now here is where it gets fun, you can use whatever you want in your eggs, but here is what I use:<br /><br />1/2 cup black beans<br />1 scallion, chopped<br />2 handfuls of spinach, chopped<br />1/2 bell pepper, chopped<br />3 pre-cooked patties or links turkey sausage, chopped<br /><br />Heat oven to 375 degrees F.<br /><br />Place muffin liners in muffin pan and evenly divide beans, onions, pepper, spinach and sausage among the 12 tins. Mix eggs, egg whites, water and salt &amp; pepper in bowl. Pour egg mixture into each tin until just covering the ingredients.<br /><br />Bake for 25 minutes. Let sit for 30 minutes to cool completely before placing in fridge. Heat in the microwave for 30-45 seconds before topping with salsa and devouring.<br /><br /><br /></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-802767557373693572.post-69198548640730690892013-10-09T06:16:00.000-07:002013-10-09T06:16:09.215-07:00Friends<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-05FPxoFIGdU/UlRq8tnzFmI/AAAAAAAAB2k/QE-nTtLbZB4/s1600/Jo+and+I.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-05FPxoFIGdU/UlRq8tnzFmI/AAAAAAAAB2k/QE-nTtLbZB4/s400/Jo+and+I.jpg" width="298" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Me and JoJo</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><br />The rules are simple:<br /><br />We may not talk to each other everyday any more, but get us in a room together and you won't get us to shut up.<br /><br />I will tell you that those shoes you picked are ugly and when you chose to buy and wear them, you do so with the understanding I will mock you each and every time. You also will submit to said mocking.<br /><br />We all have made stupid decisions over the years, but it's nothing that a cosmo or martini can't fix.<br /><br />On that note there doesn't need to be a problem for a martini, cosmo or wine to be present.<br /><br />No matter how long it has been since we talked or seen each other we will always be there when we need each other.<br /><br />I can tell you things that no one else will ever know and you do the same.<br /><br />Your secrets are always safe.<br /><br />We don't pick our families, but we do get to pick our friends, who are another type of family, and there is no way that I would be the person I am today without them.<br /><br />I think about each and everyone of you everyday.<br /><br />I miss you terribly.<br /><br /><br So here is what you missed.<br /><br />This week we had an event in Paris and currently being in the Netherlands this was just a 4 hour drive so our trip was short and to the point, but believe me I filled it with the essentials. I have been to Paris before and have seen a vast majority of the sites and this trip was definitely more work centric, but I always find time for a side trip here and there. Plus I got to ride on the back of a security guys scooter and lived to tell about. Only in Paris!<br /><br />Here are five things that you should do in Paris, if given the opportunity and only a few hours to spare.<br /><br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lbUwhxyBvcA/UlBKHSFZqkI/AAAAAAAAB1c/3UxM_ytm4gY/s1600/IMG_0474.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lbUwhxyBvcA/UlBKHSFZqkI/AAAAAAAAB1c/3UxM_ytm4gY/s400/IMG_0474.jpg" width="298" /></a></div><br /><br />#1 - Eat French Onion Soup. If you don't like it, you are dumb. It is delicious and pretty much just cheese, bread and broth so get over it and try it. Unless you are allergic then in that case you may not be dumb, but your allergies are.<br /><br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-u2DBMmKCu3c/UlBKfToOEDI/AAAAAAAAB1k/J30J1q8HAOU/s1600/IMG_0496.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-u2DBMmKCu3c/UlBKfToOEDI/AAAAAAAAB1k/J30J1q8HAOU/s320/IMG_0496.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />#2 - Eat macarons. OK I know so far this sounds like all you should do is eat, but these are worth every. single. calorie. #truth<br /><br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dw2F8zm2fJQQRkbiGh6DT9UP1ONoWcZSm9aYqHVu1fyY4jxLSkTQbMPRNc5UBekE37lo3BcWMy8ZX8lghFf_g' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0' /></div><br />#3 - Watch the Eiffel Tower sparkle. It really is beautiful in person. Every time I see it I have to stop what I am doing and watch.<br /><br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bqky6tTsC9A/UlBd2Cc2bAI/AAAAAAAAB18/vTqB4sEAmN8/s1600/IMG_0506.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bqky6tTsC9A/UlBd2Cc2bAI/AAAAAAAAB18/vTqB4sEAmN8/s320/IMG_0506.jpg" width="311" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Technically boots is not a French product (UK), but I can't<br />get this version at Target, snarky.</td></tr></tbody></table><br />#4 - Hit the French pharmacies and stock up on products you have never heard of or use the <a href="http://www.goop.com/journal/get/114/the-french-pharmacy">Goop</a> guide. OR even better yet, talk with the lady behind the counter. A few euros lighter you will have a slew of products to try! BTW - the Amilab lip balm smells amazing.<br /><br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-X1bhezQhEE4/UlBdhrNPQvI/AAAAAAAAB10/raebW3Dhefs/s1600/102_0047.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="199" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-X1bhezQhEE4/UlBdhrNPQvI/AAAAAAAAB10/raebW3Dhefs/s320/102_0047.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><br />#5 - Take the Metro. There is no easier way to get around Paris then the public transportation system. It is quick, easy to use and costs a fraction of the cost of a taxi. You can buy a 1-5 day pass <a href="http://www.raileurope.com/activities/paris-visite/index.html?WT.mc_id=CJ.paris_visite.affiliates&amp;AID=10425283&amp;PID=3059758">here</a>. Save your money for ros¨¦ and champagne!<br /><br /><br /></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-802767557373693572.post-60443829224287013912013-10-02T04:35:00.001-07:002013-10-02T08:00:23.111-07:00POV<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><div><span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">Everyone has their own point of view about what everyone else does and so much of it is based on superficial crap. It can be something as simple as the girl with the designer it bag. Oh she must have money, you think, or what a snob, poser, have to have IT girl. What you don't know is she saved and saved and sold her favorite shoes to buy it, because that is what she really wanted.&nbsp;</span></div><div><span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">Perhaps you choose to spend your money on cars. I may think that is so not worth it, but then again it's not my money so why should that even be a factor into my view of you?</span></div><div><span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">While none of the above is about me (truly), I have been thinking about how we view people based on one or two things about them. I am really trying to change my quick judgements based on material, surface items. I don't want people to judge me based on that so it's time to change my point of view too. The whole point is to expand my world not remain in a bubble of what I prefer. It's hard to do and in our society we are so quick to label people that we forget that people have many layers. Of course if I get through those layers and it's still pretty shallow...well I will try to behave.</span></div><div><span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">Who knows I might even meet some super cool people along the way.</span></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-71mHXTyB6HQ/UkwFv_OzEuI/AAAAAAAAB1I/pZyW1198Qls/s640/blogger-image--306856590.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-71mHXTyB6HQ/UkwFv_OzEuI/AAAAAAAAB1I/pZyW1198Qls/s1600/blogger-image--306856590.jpg" /></a></div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-802767557373693572.post-44426762127088569942013-09-30T00:00:00.000-07:002013-09-30T10:37:20.426-07:00Old, Gently Used & Awesome<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">I am a huge fan of well designed, vintage and modern home decor and when I am lucky I come across great items at flea/antique markets (or snuffel markt as it is called here in the Netherlands) or consignment shops. My typical luck usually runs the route of the the good pieces are picked up well before I arrive or alternatively I decide it's more then I want to spend and then keep thinking about the item that got away for years and saying why I just didn't fork over the money then, because of course now it's sold. Well now I can take my quest for the perfect unique item for the home on the internet at <a href="http://shop.chairish.com/">Chairish</a>.<br /><br />I randomly came across <a href="http://shop.chairish.com/">Chairish</a> when I was searching for a pair of antique Hollywood Regency Pineapple lamps and while I didn't end up picking those up at Chairish, I did spend the next few hours on the site looking at stuff I didn't even know I <strike>needed</strike>&nbsp;wanted. Simply put, Chairish, is an online consignment company that allows people who have great furniture (either like new or "great bones") to reach a larger audience and it allows the buyer a treasure trove of items. The prices are reasonable for the quality and product AND they even have a 48 hour return policy if it's not exactly what you want. The biggest downside would be the shipping, but if it's an item that you have been searching for forever, it's completely worth the cost. It's totally worth a look or two if you are in the market for unique, interesting and fun.<br /><br />Here are a few of my favorite items and one that just may be mine...<br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://shop.chairish.com/collections/new/products/hollywood-regency-pineapple-lamps-a-pair" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0190/4606/products/26fb6b66-2796-11e3-ab27-12313906dc8d_resized.jpeg?112851" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="font-size: 13px;">Hollywood Regency Pineapple Lamps<br /><div><br /></div></td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr></tbody></table><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://shop.chairish.com/products/mid-century-silver-toned-bar-cart" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0190/4606/products/8257cdf8-2794-11e3-b015-12313906dc8d_resized.jpeg?112851" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Mid-Century Silver Toned Bar Cart</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://shop.chairish.com/products/brass-stags-head-sculpture-1" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0190/4606/products/7ba00106-1a74-11e3-a001-1231390784b4_resized_f02c91d6-c3d6-4d95-a0e0-ec1296cc7162.jpeg?112851" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Brass Stags Head Sculpture</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://shop.chairish.com/products/vintage-blenko-wine-decanter" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0190/4606/products/f3fb90a6-0490-11e3-abd2-1231390784b4_resized.jpeg?112851" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Vintage Blenko Wine Decanter</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://shop.chairish.com/collections/los-angeles/products/vanity-chair-in-diva-print-fabric" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0190/4606/products/9eed3d3e-037e-11e3-9dd3-1231390784b4_resized_959b8dea-1538-453b-bf02-108449e5bf44.jpeg?112851" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Vanity Chair</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br /><div align="center"><a href="http://www.elleroywashere.com/" title="I Don't Like Mondays Blog Hop "><img alt="I Don't Like Mondays Blog Hop " src="http://elleroywashere.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/I-Dont-Like-Mondays-Grab-Button.jpg" style="border: none;" /></a></div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-802767557373693572.post-17202440415429852692013-09-27T03:08:00.001-07:002013-09-27T03:08:10.212-07:00Must<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">Earlier this week the BF and I went to dinner with some friends in <a href="http://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g188578-Venlo_Limburg_Province-Vacations.html">Venlo</a>, NL&nbsp;at <a href="http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g188578-d745835-Reviews-Chez_Philippe-Venlo_Limburg_Province.html">Chez Philippe</a>. The restaurant was filled with an assortment of odds and ends that the chef (Philippe) had acquired over the years, including a small carousel that was scattered throughout the restaurant. It's too bad it was so dark in there or I would have pictures to try and explain how odd and yet totally appropriate it was.<br /><br />Chef Philippe is a French man living in the Netherlands for many years and running a restaurant the way he thinks it should be done. Which means you come in, sit down, chat with him and the staff and eat what he wants to serve you that evening. If you must have something off the a la carte menu, they will easily oblige, but the set menu for the evening is the only way to go. Oh my, the four course meal was fantastic and the service was top notch. If you ever find your way anywhere near Venlo, this little restaurant is worth stopping for and enjoying a few hours full of food and wine. <br /><br />Have a great weekend.<br /><br /><br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://d160rx0da27vrj.cloudfront.net/images/logo.a917faa00db1.svg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="67" src="https://d160rx0da27vrj.cloudfront.net/images/logo.a917faa00db1.svg" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><i><span style="font-size: xx-small;">Image via Oyster</span></i></td></tr></tbody></table><br /><br /><b>Read </b>- Think of Oyster like Netflix for books. I don't know what it is about the small details that drive me to spend hours searching for a particular item only to change my mind half way through and start all over, but it makes it difficult to make a decision.<br /><br />You may be asking yourself why I would need a wooden tray, but it is simply because they are incredibly useful. They can be used on the coffee table, serving, cocktails, snacks, etc. and I think it would be a great decorative addition, if I could just pick one. The problem now is that I found a whole slew of fantastic one and now can't decide which one I like best. I will decide, eventually, but until then here are my top contenders of fantastic wood trays from across the web.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.polyvore.com/untitled_13/set?.embedder=2838314&amp;.svc=blogger&amp;id=98464436" target="_blank"><img alt="Untitled #13" border="0" force="1" height="600" src="http://cfc.polyvoreimg.com/cgi/img-set/.sig/GXpaZbSmiHEKht5No051g/cid/98464436/id/9p8A1REl4xG9I_4I7BSULw/size/c600x600.jpg" title="Untitled #13" width="600" /></a><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">1.&nbsp;<a href="http://www.napastyle.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=4757" style="text-align: center;">NapaStyle</a>&nbsp;2.&nbsp;<a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/163540528/monogrammed-wooden-ottoman-tray?ref=related-0%22%20imageanchor=" style="text-align: center;">Etsy</a>&nbsp;3.&nbsp;<a href="https://www.onekingslane.com/product/26654/1473558" style="text-align: center;">Kings Lane</a>&nbsp;4.&nbsp;<a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/105046912/reclaimed-pallet-wood-furniture-expresso?ref=sr_gallery_22&amp;amp;ga_search_query=large+wood+tray&amp;amp;ga_view_type=gallery&amp;amp;ga_ship_to=ZZ&amp;amp;ga_page=2&amp;amp;ga_search_type=all" style="text-align: center;">Etsy</a>&nbsp;5.&nbsp;<a href="http://www.westelm.com/products/mrk-lacquer-trays-espresso-d476/?pkey=e%7Ctray%7C34%7Cbest%7C0%7C1%7C24%7C%7C9&amp;amp;cm_src=PRODUCTSEARCH%7C%7CNoFacet-_-NoFacet-_-Featured%20Tray-_-" style="text-align: center;">West Elm</a></span></div><br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>I am leaning heavy towards #2, but we shall when the cart is completed!<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br /><br /><br /></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-802767557373693572.post-80047032926402932462013-09-23T03:45:00.002-07:002013-09-23T03:45:47.920-07:00Travelz<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">Things always get a little crazy on weeks I travel abroad and for some reason I just can seem to post or sleep. They creep me out because they have eight legs and are not cute. I usually freak out when I see them and in fact I was almost in tears thinking about having to breakdown my shelves in the dining room (for the new buffet/wine cabinet) that are pretty deep and I knew were housing spiders, like it was their own personal condo. The next day though I found my big girl pants, put on some kitchen gloves (that covered me up to my elbows), had two vacuums, multi-purpose cleaner and decided to just get it done. After a few breaks and a frantic chase with the vacuum to get the offender, I prevailed, made it through and had a drink. This however does not mean I am ok with spiders now, it just means that I can do it if I want...and most of the time I don't.<br /><br />Also, you can keep your <strike>lies</strike> comments about how harmless they are and how I am bigger, etc., etc.. I have done this for a few reason, but mainly because I simply wasn't feeling well and I couldn't figure out why. To get to the bottom of the problem I started eliminating some things from my diet and realized that I was feeling better. The biggest hurdle for me is that I like a little sweet now and then and even though currently the end of summer fruits satisfy my sweet tooth, I am looking ahead to the fall and winter when these are not optimal options.<br /><br />While I know everyone gave GP a lot of crap for her book, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Its-All-Good-Delicious-Recipes/dp/1455522716">It's All Good</a>, I prefer to find out for myself how ridiculous or not something is and it's a good thing I did. I love this book. It addresses all of my needs (tasty, fresh, non-processed and easy to find products) and I can only surmise that those who were panning the book had not tried any of the recipes. I will be sharing some of my favorite dishes over the next few months from the book and I really think you will be pleasantly surprised at how easy and flavorful most of these recipes are to prepare.&nbsp;Anyway, as I was saying I need some sweets, but don't want the sugar, butter and waistline, so I turned to the back of GP's book and found the Almond Butter Cookies with Maldon Sea Salt, which sounded like the perfect solution (also I had everything in the house to make these). Gluten free, vegan and frankly pretty darn tasty these cookies make the afternoon just a little bit better.<br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-We3he8Y-x4E/Ui91JyICvKI/AAAAAAAAB0A/Srb4Xxdtg2s/s1600/Cookies+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="425" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-We3he8Y-x4E/Ui91JyICvKI/AAAAAAAAB0A/Srb4Xxdtg2s/s640/Cookies+1.JPG" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Get your arm ready. class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 5.0pt; mso-layout-grid-align: none; mso-pagination: none; text-autospace: none;">I have mentioned before that I love my bed. It has been one of the best purchases we made when we moved to SoCal. When we purchased the bed last year I knew how I wanted the bedroom to look, but it took forever for me to find all of the vintage frames, pillows and headboard. In fact the headboard was the piece that I had the hardest time with. I knew what I wanted and had seen it at West Elm, but they had discontinued that particular headboard right when I was ready to order (for real). So I searched high and low for the perfect piece, but couldn't find anything close. Yellow is a hard enough color to find in a headboard, but coupled with the height I was looking for and the lack of decoration it was an uphill battle.<b><o:p></o:p></b></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal">That is until I came across a tumblr site called <a href="http://loveshackdesigns.tumblr.com/"><span style="color: #0000e9;">Love Shack Designs</span></a>&nbsp;that custom makes headboards of all shapes and sizes. All it took was one email with a description and a picture of what I was looking for and not only were they able to do it, but it was easily a couple hundred dollars cheaper (including shipping) then my original choice. So I took the money I saved from the headboard and got a new chair (similar style <a href="http://furnish.co.uk/items/311153-halston-armchair-dusk-grey"><span style="color: #0000e9;">here</span></a>) to complete the room. Even though I don't have to go into an office I still love the feeling of a three day weekend. It's a special treat that we all should have a little bit more often.<br /><br />My week has been filled with working, cleaning, reorganizing and getting in the mind set for fall, which with the heat wave we have been having here in SoCal is really hard to do. All the cleaning was a result of our&nbsp;<a href="http://www.dkfjhg2.cn/2013/09/summer-vacation-is-over.html">new couch</a>&nbsp;being way larger then our current one and things just have to go to make space. I have been coming up with ways to consolidate things and I think when everything is complete it will be so nice, but it is just taking patience, of which I have only a little. On the upside of things, the proceeds of all furniture sold will go towards a new sideboard/wine cabinet of which I will quickly fill to the brim with delicious wine. So cheers to a fabulous weekend!<br /><br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://images.tradesy.com/images/global/tradesy_small.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="31" src="http://images.tradesy.com/images/global/tradesy_small.png" width="200" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: xx-small;"><i>Image via Tradesy</i></span></td></tr></tbody></table><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><b>Closet Cleaning</b> - Speaking of cleaning, check out <a href="http://mashable.com/2013/09/03/clothes-resale/">Mashables</a> 6 sites for selling clothes that you no longer wear. While searching I came across a few recipes that use preserved lemons and while I like trying new things, I don't necessarily like to pay big prices for things I can make much cheaper on my own. So when I realized that I had purchased waaaay to many lemons last week (every time I left the house I bought some for no good reason!), I remembered that I wanted to make a few of those dishes that called for preserved lemons and really how hard can it be to make these? Well turns out it's not hard at all, it just takes about 30 days. Which I can totally wait for because one dish will require me to either learn to debone a chicken or beg the butcher to do it for me (I will definitely let you know how that one turns out!).<br /><br />I looked at several different ways of doing this and ended up keeping it simple and pure, using just salt, lemons and lemon juice. I combined a few of the recipes into what you see below as I couldn't find one that I liked 100%. I can't wait to try these in a month.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-z32klJtqhbg/Uia16Z1VqrI/AAAAAAAAByQ/_nkkl7N6g14/s1600/Lemon+start.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="317" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-z32klJtqhbg/Uia16Z1VqrI/AAAAAAAAByQ/_nkkl7N6g14/s400/Lemon+start.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-D6VJ-HviQu0/Uia2ASHEryI/AAAAAAAAByY/fw2EMSyz3kA/s1600/Lemon+Cut.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-D6VJ-HviQu0/Uia2ASHEryI/AAAAAAAAByY/fw2EMSyz3kA/s400/Lemon+Cut.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yKsoxalHY2E/Uia2IbTq1PI/AAAAAAAAByo/M-7fZPRNb4M/s1600/To+the+top+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="356" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yKsoxalHY2E/Uia2IbTq1PI/AAAAAAAAByo/M-7fZPRNb4M/s400/To+the+top+2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3CGzhBCjwPQ/Uia2uzP3lUI/AAAAAAAABy0/qLaqquiP_PA/s1600/Lemons+from+the+top.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3CGzhBCjwPQ/Uia2uzP3lUI/AAAAAAAABy0/qLaqquiP_PA/s400/Lemons+from+the+top.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><br /><b>Preserved Lemons - Shannon Style</b><br /><b><br /></b>6-8 lemons for preserving (my lemons were small so I used 8 of them)<br />1/4 cup sea salt<br />additional lemons to use for additional juice<br /><br />Sterile Mason Jar<br /><br /><i>It goes without saying, but as the preserved lemon rinds are what you use once they are done, make sure that you wash the lemons well, using a fruit and veggie spray if you are a stickler like me.</i><br /><br />1. <i>&nbsp;</i>Sprinkle a tablespoon of salt in the jar to get started. Quarter your lemons starting from the top and stopping within a half inch or so of the bottom so the lemon remains whole. Sprinkle the inside of the lemon generously with salt, reshape and place inside the jar. Continue the process with the remainder of &nbsp;your lemons being sure to salt between the layers of lemons and making sure to press down on the lemons inside the jar. This not only makes room, but releases the juice to help cover the lemons.<br /><br />2. &nbsp;Once all lemons are in the jar add additional fresh lemon juice until the top of your lemons are covered in juice, making sure to leave some air in the jar. (I used about two additional lemons for the juice)<br /><br />3. &nbsp;Place the jar in a warm place where they can ripen, making sure to shake the jar each day to keep things working properly, for 30 days.<br /><br />Once you are ready to use, rinse the lemon under water and if you prefer you can remove and discard the pulp.<br /><br />Everything I have read says that these are good for up to a year and you can reuse the pickling juice two to three more times if desired. Not sure how I feel about that last bit, but we will see how it all works out.<br /><br /><br I have been using the <a href="http://www.dkfjhg2.cn/2013/06/somewhere-in-vaseline.html">vaseline</a> method and it works, but it's a bit hard to put socks on with the summer heat. Then last week a friend sent me a link about a DIY foot bath solution that promises to get that dead skin removed and leaves your feet pretty. Of course I had to try it, but first I wanted to to check out that it wasn't going to melt my feet or something else I would regret. Once I read this <a href="http://www.familysavvy.com/listerine-vinegar-foot-soak-help-or-hype/">article</a> that pointed out what each ingredient would do, I felt good enough to give it a go.<br /><br />I can't find the original source to credit since there are so many people that have reposted and included this information on the web, but here is the original "recipe" for your foot bath:<br /><br /><i>1/4 cup Listerine</i><br /><i>1/4 cup distilled vinegar</i><br /><i>1/2 warm water</i><br /><i><br /></i><i>Mix all and soak feet for 10 minutes and when you take them out the dead skin will practically wipe off.</i><br /><br />I followed the above directions using the blue Listerine and soaked for the recommended time. While the skin did not "wipe off", using a pumice stone after the soak the skin was indeed coming off so easy that I was sold, but I do have some changes and suggestions.&nbsp;I would absolutely double the ingredients so you have a decent amount of water to truly soak your feet in and I don't recommend using the blue Listerine, unless you like blue feet (although my feet are now minty fresh).<br /><br />While we may be halfway through summer I think the soak is totally worth a try to keep or refresh your feet and make them sandal worthy all summer long.<br /><br /></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-802767557373693572.post-29659400322701473932013-07-11T16:53:00.000-07:002013-07-12T07:17:03.817-07:00Must See Anniversary SALE!!<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">Why does it seem that the summer flies by sooo much quicker than the rest of the year? I feel like it just started, yet the calendar says we are headed towards August at light speed.<br><br>This week I have tried to make sure that I get out of the house/warehouse daily to at least make sure that each day is not all about work. This is twice as hard as you think when your significant other is a workaholic and also works from home and you work together on most of your projects. I can however say that the success rate was 100%, even if one outing was just to the post office to drop of an eBay item!<br><br>The best thing about this week is that the mothership came a calling. That's right the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is here (early access and then access for all July 18th) and I have combed through and picked out the best items for your viewing (and purchasing) pleasure. Overall I was pretty pleased with everything, but was a little less then impressed with the shoes, but perhaps it's just me not getting on board with the fall shoe trends. What are your favorite items this year?</div><div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><br></div><div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">Happy shopping!</div><div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><br><div style="background: #FFF; padding-top: 3px; position: relative; width: 490px;"><script src="http://www.skinnyscoop.com/lists/widgetlist?alt=widget&amp;width=490&amp;height=820&amp;list_id=121447&amp;bgcolor=e34fb0&amp;name=My%20List&amp;showHeader=1&amp;format=script&amp;type=grid&amp;thumbnail=150&amp;showCarousel=1"></script><iframe id="tss_widget" src="http://www.skinnyscoop.com/lists/widgetdisplay/121447?&amp;alt=widget&amp;width=490&amp;height=820&amp;list_id=121447&amp;bgcolor=e34fb0&amp;name=My%20List&amp;showHeader=1&amp;format=script&amp;type=grid&amp;thumbnail=150&amp;showCarousel=1" width="490" height="820" noresize="noresize" allowtransparency="true" frameborder="0" border="0" cellspacing="0" scrolling="no" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" style="margin:0;padding:0;border:0;overflow:hidden;"></iframe><iframe id="tss_widget" src="http://www.skinnyscoop.com/lists/widgetdisplay/121447?&amp;alt=widget&amp;width=490&amp;height=820&amp;list_id=121447&amp;bgcolor=e34fb0&amp;name=My%20List&amp;showHeader=1&amp;format=script&amp;type=grid&amp;thumbnail=150&amp;showCarousel=1" width="490" height="820" noresize="noresize" allowtransparency="true" frameborder="0" border="0" cellspacing="0" scrolling="no" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" style="margin:0;padding:0;border:0;overflow:hidden;"></iframe><iframe id="tss_widget" src="http://www.skinnyscoop.com/lists/widgetdisplay/121447?&amp;alt=widget&amp;width=490&amp;height=820&amp;list_id=121447&amp;bgcolor=e34fb0&amp;name=My%20List&amp;showHeader=1&amp;format=script&amp;type=grid&amp;thumbnail=150&amp;showCarousel=1" width="490" height="820" noresize="noresize" allowtransparency="true" frameborder="0" border="0" cellspacing="0" scrolling="no" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" style="margin:0;padding:0;border:0;overflow:hidden;"></iframe><a href="http://www.skinnyscoop.com/list/shannonin30s/2013-nordstrom-anniversary-sale-wants-needs-and-haves" style="background-color: white; bottom: 0px; color: #666666; display: block; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 11px; left: 0px; margin-top: 3px; padding: 8px 5px; position: absolute; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; width: 480px;" target="_blank">View this <span style="color: #c962a6;">SkinnyScoop</span> List</a></div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-802767557373693572.post-60969633375406682862013-07-10T00:00:00.000-07:002013-07-10T08:11:02.679-07:00The VIP Box<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">I have been really sticking to a budget around here for awhile, but that doesn't mean I don't have a fun fund or a Shannon deserves this so she is going to get it stash of cash. I just have become super choosy about when to reach in to these reserves. The exception is subscription services that promise big bang for little buck.&nbsp; It's been stated here on this blog how much I love <a href="http://www.dkfjhg2.cn/2011/05/champagne-taste-on-beer-budget.html">Birchbox</a> and getting things in the mail. I must admit it thrills me to no end to get random items in the mail.&nbsp;Over the last two years or so I have tried other subscription random stuff in the mail services, but haven't found any consistently awesome enough to write about, until now.&nbsp; The box is from&nbsp;<a href="http://vip.fff.me/g8hD">Fab Fit Fun VIP</a>&nbsp;and yes that is Giuliana Rancic on the site. Just let it roll, it's not like you have to talk to her or look at her large head. Anyway here are a&nbsp;few of the highlights I think make this box a keeper.<br /><div><div><br /></div><div>Total of items are well worth over the cost you pay and it's stuff I would want even if it didn't just randomly show up at my door*.</div><div><br /></div><div>While the cost is a bit more then some of the others at $49.99, it is only sent out 4 times a year (see above on the cost vs. receive) and with products geared towards each season. Super helpful.</div><div><br /></div><div>The summer package has a few products that I haven't heard of before, but now am totally in love with. You know I love finding new things!</div><div><br /></div><div>To give you an idea of what you can receive here is what I received in my summer box:</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-V_5A32_26C8/UdyBJenvUuI/AAAAAAAABto/qxMNQP1xn_M/s1600/IMG_0042.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-V_5A32_26C8/UdyBJenvUuI/AAAAAAAABto/qxMNQP1xn_M/s400/IMG_0042.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div></div><div>1. Ivory Mason Sunglasses - I saw these and actually squealed. I am addicted to sunglasses and now I don't need to purchase new ones for summer. They look fabulous on. I love these.&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>2. Yes to Cucumbers Travel Facial Wipes - I am a constant traveler and these are fantastic for anytime and anywhere.</div><div><br /></div><div>3. Evian Brumisateur Facial Spray - Ask the kiddlets what cooled them off when we were dragging our luggage through Venice over so many bridges in unbearable heat and they will let you know it was this spray. It works by the pool too.</div><div><br /></div><div>4. It Hair Care Surf Spray - For the beachy waves when you are away from &nbsp;the beach. Fantastic and smells good.</div><div><br /></div><div>5. Purlisse - Pur-Delicate Gentle Soy Milk Cleanser - I have sensitive skin and this is super gentle while removing all the makeup and dirt. Oh and it was named and one of Vogue's favorite products. Count me in!</div><div><br /></div><div>6. Infinity Sun Glow on the Go - I haven't tried it yet, but will give it a go tomorrow. I always need to psych myself up before doing a self tanner. Perhaps a shot of tequila will help make me feel better about it.</div><div><br /></div><div>7. Orly Nail Polish - In a pretty pale purple, this is perfect for summer!</div><div><br /></div><div>8. Catalina Su Lip Gloss - I can't stop putting this on. It's light, shimmery and not sticky.&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>9. Kind Dark Chocolate Chili Almond and Maple Glazed Pecan and Sea Salt - Gone. It was delicious.</div><div><br /></div><div><a href="http://vip.fff.me/g8hD">If you are interested you can check out FFF here</a> and use the code 614874 (it was in my box to be shared with the world) to get $10 off your first box. It's totally worth giving it a go.</div><div><br /></div><div>* The spring box had Jewel Mint jewelry that a lot of people didn't like, myself included, but the rest of the items were great and still added up to over double the amount I paid. You are not going to like everything all the time. That said the summer box was super fantastic and I loved everything.</div></div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-802767557373693572.post-36489645113679397782013-07-08T06:48:00.000-07:002015-06-07T09:21:12.562-07:00Cheesy Grilled Corn. Oh My!<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">This long weekend was filled with good food, house cleaning (actually gave some closet inches to the BF), relaxing evenings (in which I tried as many of <a href="http://themoderncocktail.com/#about" target="_blank">these flavors</a> as I could) and and a few fireworks. One of the evenings the BF suggested that we grill some steaks and I had been wanting to throw corn on the grill since we returned to the US so this was the perfect opportunity. While I know Paula Deen has been having a rough go of it these last few weeks, that doesn't change the fact this <a href="http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paula-deen/cheese-on-the-cob-recipe/index.html">grilled corn recipe</a> is flipping awesome.<br /><div><br /></div><div>Of course I have a few suggestions/changes that I recommend from experience, starting with making sure you use non-stick foil or slather and sprinkle after the grill. Both solutions work and this time I happened to have some nonstick foil so I pre-slathered and sprinkled, but usually I do it after the corn is grilled. The other suggestion is to use <a href="http://followyourheart.com/products/original-3/">Veganaise</a> instead of mayo. It doesn't turn you vegan, I promise, but I so prefer the taste that I use it on everything. It's really that good.<br /><br /></div><div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-8bKBPcKkZJs/UdrAF1lhn1I/AAAAAAAABs0/gwAZ09h57PQ/s640/blogger-image--328753855.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-8bKBPcKkZJs/UdrAF1lhn1I/AAAAAAAABs0/gwAZ09h57PQ/s400/blogger-image--328753855.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">So good.</td></tr></tbody></table><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"></div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-MOfewmzbroU/UdoPAMlNWOI/AAAAAAAABsc/ZX0o_uQuyLo/s640/blogger-image-532703922.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-MOfewmzbroU/UdoPAMlNWOI/AAAAAAAABsc/ZX0o_uQuyLo/s400/blogger-image-532703922.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Give the corn a health dose of Veganaise.</td></tr></tbody></table><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"></div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-rNZqbLp8nSM/UdoO-CQ7DlI/AAAAAAAABsU/YpzzkxqrzYQ/s640/blogger-image--1187705741.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-rNZqbLp8nSM/UdoO-CQ7DlI/AAAAAAAABsU/YpzzkxqrzYQ/s400/blogger-image--1187705741.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Heavy handed sprinkle.</td></tr></tbody></table><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-U2cORjc99Mk/UdrBEYEZ0QI/AAAAAAAABtE/mXuZBwJoHZU/s1600/IMG_0209.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="372" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-U2cORjc99Mk/UdrBEYEZ0QI/AAAAAAAABtE/mXuZBwJoHZU/s400/IMG_0209.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br /></div><div 0="" 150px="" auto="" class="¡±elleroy-was-here-button¡±" margin:=""><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /></div></div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-802767557373693572.post-53577760784155052052013-07-03T07:17:00.003-07:002013-07-03T07:18:12.006-07:00Like a Ninja<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">You know that the best way to combat jet lag is to internet window shop. While I shop and put hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise into my cart I think to myself how much I don't REALLY need any of these items and exit out of the site. Oh the items I have found, but for the most part I don't regret not getting any of them. OK, maybe that Alice and Olivia dress that was on sale, but really that's it.<br /><br />Beyond the internet shopping there are the informercials at three am that call my name. My favorites are the&nbsp;<a href="http://www.nutribullet.com/">NutriBullet</a>, <a href="http://www.miracleskintransformer.com/">Miracle Skin Transformer</a>&nbsp;and anything <a href="http://www.sharkclean.com/">Shark</a>, but I have been able to talk myself out of purchasing these, barely. Then there is the <a href="http://www.ninjakitchen.com/mega-kitchen-system/index.html">Ninja Mega Kitchen System</a>.&nbsp;The Ninja has been something I have wanted to for awhile. It is a juicer, a processor, a blending and a dough mixing machine all in one. I have talked myself out of it by the fact that I have a blender and a mini processor and don't need to buy something new. Well that is not totally true. I have a mediocre blender that doesn't really crush the ice and processor that takes forever to process anything. So the excuses are done over and the Ninja is mine. I have only used it three times (processor, single serve blend and crushed ice, which is way fun) since Monday, but I LOVE IT. It is everything it says and more. Hopefully this weekend I will get to spend more time with it, trying all the different items, but for now I will make my morning green drink and love how easy and smooth it is.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HPEWZwT5jy0/UdQyWBmjnlI/AAAAAAAABr4/jFa23T5LeII/s1600/IMG_0190.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HPEWZwT5jy0/UdQyWBmjnlI/AAAAAAAABr4/jFa23T5LeII/s640/IMG_0190.JPG" width="489" /></a></div><br /><br /><br /></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0939ÆåÅÆ
